Plant Stress Biology is a sub-discipline of Plant Biology that deals with the study of how plants respond to environmental stresses, like drought, salinity, flooding, and extreme temperatures. It seeks to uncover the underlying mechanisms that enable plants to survive and thrive in challenging conditions. Stress biology studies the physiological, biochemical, and molecular responses of plants to a wide range of environmental stresses. This research has led to the development of stress-tolerant crop varieties, which can better withstand the effects of climate change and provide greater yields to farmers. It also has implications for the development of new crop protection strategies and the improvement of food security. Furthermore, understanding the mechanisms of plant stress can lead to the discovery of new compounds with potential applications in industry, human health, etc.
