Plants contain intricate molecular processes that enable them to adapt to their surroundings and survive. Photosynthesis is the process through which plants produce energy from carbon dioxide, water, and sunshine. Then, this energy is put to use for metabolic processes like growth and reproduction. The mobility of molecules within plant cells is one of the many molecular processes that are present in plants. For instance, proteins and lipids make up the plasma membrane of plants, which controls the flow of molecules like water, ions, and nutrients into and out of the cell. Additionally, cellulose is found in the walls of plant cells, which aids in giving the cell stiffness and structural support. Molecular processes are also used by plants to react to environmental stimuli. For instance, plants can alter the form of their leaves or blossoms in response to variations in light and temperature in order to absorb more sunlight or escape colder temperatures. In addition, plants employ hormones to adapt to various environmental factors including drought and high temperatures. Finally, plants interact with one another through molecular processes. Pheromone signalling is a method through which plants communicate with one another to inform them of potential dangers like herbivores or viruses.
